With great satisfaction of the organizers and all the sponsors, the 2019 edition of Boldbrain Startup Challenge, the accelerator in Ticino, ended in the presence of 400 spectators at the Aula magna of the Lugano university campus, organized by the Agire Foundation with the support of the USI Start-Up Promotion Center, the important support of the Department of Finance and Economy (DFE) and of BancaStato.
Among the 10 finalists, after careful evaluation by a national jury chaired by Jean Pierre Vuilleumier, the 5 startups deemed most promising to realize their business idea were elected winners and were awarded, in the ranking, checks for an overall value of 120,000 francs, plus services and advice that will help them continue with the development of their project. The audience present in the room, by electronic vote, also awarded the sixth cash prize worth 10,000 francs which is matched with the preference of the jury.
Orchestra ranked first, thus earning the first two prizes to be won: a check worth 40,000 Swiss francs and a scholarship made available by the USI Executive MBA, worth 45,000 francs, as well as the additional prize of public.
A check of 30,000 francs went to the second place, LocalPoint, 20,000 francs to the third hand, and the fourth and fifth to the Qikle and steam cup washers, 10,000 francs each. The first classified also guaranteed the possibility of accessing both the Swiss Economic Award and MassChallenge Switzerland, two programs that support the development of startups at a more advanced stage. All 10 finalists also benefit from a voucher made available by the Federal Institute of Intellectual Protection to be able to carry out a first patent search. Hemargroup instead rewarded Mano and Lavatazzine a steam with the opportunity to start working on the realization of the prototype of their idea.
Boldbrain Startup Challenge is a program for budding innovative ideas that is repeated every year in the months from August to December. Registration for the 2020 edition will open in the spring. The rules and formalities for registration will be available on the website www.boldbrain.ch in the coming months.
